The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released the Continuum of Care Builds (CoCBuilds) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). There is $175 million available nationally for these one-time awards, issued for the first time by HUD, to fund new construction, acquisition, or rehabilitation of permanent supportive housing and enable communities to develop new units of rental housing with supportive services for people experiencing homelessness.
Through the CoCBuilds NOFO, HUD encourages CoCs to leverage funds provided for construction, acquisition, or rehabilitation of new PSH units with other funding sources to maximize resources that can be directed to meeting the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. In addition to funding the development of new units, up to 20 percent of each award may be used for other eligible and renewable CoC Program activities for Permanent Supportive Housing projects, including supportive services and operating costs.
