On Friday, May 15, the House of Representatives voted to approve the $3 trillion HEROES Act, as House leadership seeks to move the conversation forward with Senate leadership and the White House. The bill is a starting point in negotiations with the Senate. A summary of the HEROES Act can be found here.

Some of the highlights of the HEROES Act include:

  • $875 billion in funding for state and local governments to shore up their budgets;
  • $100 billion in emergency rental assistance;
  • An additional round of $1,200 stimulus payments to most Americans;
  • $11.5 billion in ESG funding for homelessness-related activities; and
  • $5 billion in Community Development Block Grant funding
