Joint Statement From Peter Lynn And Wendy Greuel On The Defeat Of Measure S
March 08, 2017

Joint Statement from Peter Lynn, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, and Wendy Greuel, Chair of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority Commission, on the Defeat of Measure S

Los Angeles, CA (March 8, 2017) - "We applaud the voters of Los Angeles for their overwhelming rejection of Measure S. They understood that the initiative would have dealt a tremendous blow to the effort to build affordable and low-income housing in the city. With the defeat of S, we can once again turn our full attention to implementation of Proposition HHH, approved by 77 percent of city voters this past November, which will house 9,000 chronically homeless individuals over the next several years. As the voters of Los Angeles made very clear yesterday, the only long-term solution to homelessness is housing."

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority is a joint powers authority of the City and County of Los Angeles, created in 1993 to address the problems of homelessness in Los Angeles County. LAHSA is the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, and coordinates and manages more than $132 million annually in federal, state, county and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing and services to homeless persons.
