Federal Funding Update

Impacts of Federal Funding Cuts to the Los Angeles Homeless Services System

On June 6, 2026, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced that it would immediately suspend all funding to LAHSA. LAHSA's federal funding is a critical revenue stream that helps thousands of Angelenos enter permanent housing and stay housed long-term.

If the federal government proceeds with withholding LAHSA's already allocated funding, the following people would likely return to homelessness.

7,377
Households Currently Housed or Sheltered with Federal Funding
11,123
People Currently Housed or Sheltered with Federal Funding

Within these households, there are:

982
Families
2,223
Children
804
Transition-Aged Youth (18–24)
1,647
Seniors
901
Individuals in Families Impacted by Intimate Partner Violence
89
Veterans

Note: Household count is an undercount, as it does not include DV households.

There are 7,377 households currently housed or sheltered with federal funding.
