LAHSA Shares Achievement Honors with Los Angeles County Departments

The Homeless CalWORKs Families Project (HCFP) received an achievement award from the
National Association of Counties (NACo) in recognition of project's collaborative effort
to provide assistance to homeless families. The HCFP collaborators include Los Angeles
Homeless Services Authority, Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services
(DPSS) - CalWORKs Division, Department of Mental Health (DMH), and Community Development
Commission. The HCFP was established 4 years ago by the Los Angeles County Board of
Supervisors to address homelessness for families in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles.
Since then, the HCFP project has successfully expanded to include six areas of the County.
The project provides emergency housing and an array of services for families in an effort
to help them transition out of homelessness to permanent housing. NACo is the only national
organization that represents county governments in the United States. NACo, which was
founded in 1935, provides essential services to the nation's 3,066 counties. NACo's
membership totals more than 2,000 counties, representing over 80 percent of the nation's
population. For more information on NACo, please use the following link: http://www.naco.org/Template.cfm?Section=About_NACo
