HUD released the final Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Data and Technical Standard Notice. The standard provide detailed guidance on the development of data and technical standards that will allow local CoC to generate consistent reports so that the characteristics of homeless populations across the United States can be determined. This includes the standards for universal Data Elements, Program Level Data Elements, data confidentiality, security and technical standards for the HMIS.

Individual programs funded under McKinney-Veto Homeless Assistance Act, Housing Opportunity for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) and a range of Federal programs are expected to participate in HMIS.
