LAHSA Commissioners Louisa Ollague |

Louisa Ollague was appointed by Supervisor Molina to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority Commission in 2003. Louisa Ollague is currently a legislative deputy for Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina (1st District). Ms. Ollague develops policy in a variety of areas, including welfare, immigration and redistricting. Previously, Ms. Ollague was the Regional Census Director for the Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund (MALDEF) Census Campaign. During her work with the campaign, she implemented aggressive outreach in Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico. Prior to this post, Ms. Ollague was Project Director for a UC-Davis Medical Center study of cardiovascular disease and memory loss among elderly Latinos. The pioneering study was funded by the National Institute of Health. As associate director of Communities for a Better Environment, Ms. Ollague successfully implemented an environmental justice partnership with UCLA-Labor Occupational Safety & Health, UCLA-Center for Occupational & Environmental Health, community health practitioners and environmental grassroots organizations in Southeast L.A. She also conducted research for the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute in the areas of content analysis, immigration and minority politics. Born and raised in Pico-Union, Ms. Ollague attended a boarding school in the east. She graduated magna cum laude from Wellesley College in Boston, and pursued graduate work in political science and history at the Claremont Graduate School. |
