Los Angeles Winter Shelter Program

LAHSA coordinates the Los Angeles Winter Shelter Program which provides homeless individuals and families with temporary emergency shelter, meals, showers, facilities, transportation and entry into the Continuum of Care system of services. The program brings over 2,000 additional emergency shelter beds into service during Los Angeles' most severe cold and wet weather (December to March).

Funded by Emergency Shelter Grant, Community Development Block Grant, State EHAP and FEMA funds, LAHSA contracts with non-profit homeless service providers to operate Winter Shelter Program sites throughout the County, utilizing existing homeless shelter facilities, California National Guard armories and large group facilities.
